Google Cloud Is All Set To Enter Web3
Google Cloud is forming a team to build services for developers running blockchain applications. The search giant aims to enter Web3 as a back-end services provider.
Google Cloud Vice President, General Manager, and Head of Platform Amit Zavery said they want to make Google Cloud Platform the initial choice for Web3 developers.
There had been a recent survey among hundreds of developers from Stack Overflow. Of the 585 participants, 85% have not yet made any apps or software that uses the blockchain. However, as Google Cloud is set to streamline the process of Web3 app creation for developers, there will probably be a change in the situation.
Sorare Forges Partnership with MLB to Create NFT-Based Fantasy Game
Sorare became the first big name in sports NFTs when it launched its fantasy soccer game in 2019. Now, the company will expand its reach thanks to a new deal with Major League Baseball.
Sorare has already built partnerships with 247 soccer clubs. Like many sports NFT marketplaces, it allows users to buy, sell, and hold images of players in a variety of different rarities.
However, the Sorare platform goes further by using these NFTs in fantasy sports games. Players can win cash and prizes by forming lineups using their NFT collection. Users start with free, common NFTs, but can win or purchase more on an integrated marketplace.
Square Enix Releases Earnings Report, Doubles Down on NFTs
There was an indication of what Square Enix was looking to do in the future, and it seems that despite the opinion of some fans, the company will be continuing its efforts regarding NFTs and blockchain.
While fans have been skeptical of this idea, some believe that Square Enix will not use NFTs as an extension of cryptocurrency. Instead, one fan wrote on Twitter that the Square Enix idea of NFTs could end up as more of a mobile-focused project, "basically just gacha units you truly own, track the value of and exchange," one fan wrote on Twitter.
